On 27 November 2011, from 11.oo 16.00 hrs., the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai Women Group in Islamabad led by Mrs. Jiraporn Jitpatima organized a Charity Bazaar for Thai Flood Affectees at the residence of the Ambassador of Thailand. There were approximately 300 persons including diplomats, foreigners living in Islamabad, and Pakistanis participated in this charitable cause.
Many stalls were set up by the Thai community to sell Thai food, costume jewelries, silk scarves, used clothes, pre-owned DVDs and raffle tickets, the latter of which were sponsored by various restaurants in Islamabad
Foreign communities also actively took part in this charitable cause. The Indonesian Embassy and the French Club donated cash and used clothes for sale while the Japanese community set up its own stall to sell used items and sushi rolls. Desserts were all bakery donated by the Thai community, Canadian, Australian, and Turkish embassies, and the Marriott Hotel. And, Thai Airways International donated a return ticket (Islamabad-Bangkok-Islamabad) for auction.
This event was very successful and served the purpose of the team in trying to help the flood affectees in Thailand very well though there is a small Thai community in Islamabad.
All proceeds will be donated to the Thai Red Cross.
